The furore surrounding the two positive drugs tests provided by Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez continues to suggest the re-match with Golovkin won?t happen.

Alvarez, who tested positive for the performance enhancing substance clenbuterol, is scheduled to appear before the Nevada State Athletic Commission on April 18, less than three weeks before the rematch in Las Vegas.

There are fears that, considering the magnitude of the offence, the Mexican fighter could be banned for as long as a year with it being suggested that Canelo is ?guilty of foul or unsportsmanlike conduct that was detrimental to a contest.?.

Our ongoing fears that the fight could be called off are also shared by the MGM Grand who are already offering punters refunds on tickets brought.

All we can do is sit and wait for the verdict of the commission on April 19.

Here at Vital Boxing we wouldn’t like to make a judgement call on which way this one will go.
