During my younger years, a time where Boxing was covered by terrestrial television, I enjoyed watching ITV cover the carer of Herbie Hide.

Hide was always something of a maverick, a young showman coming up through the ranks, not quite as heavy as those in his division but more than capable of using speed, and his punch, to get the wins he craved.

His career peaked when he won the WBO world heavyweight title, a fight that stuck him on a plinth occupied by very few.

Sadly, Hide?s career went on a downward spiral and he faded away back into obscurity.

Yesterday though, following some kind of newspaper sting, Hide was given a prison sentence of 22 months, at Cambridge Crown Court, for a cocaine deal.

Unfortunately, yet another of the heroes from my youth bursting that bubble of heroism they occupied!
