Watching the television coverage of the James DeGale v Andre Dirrell fight last night, and may I say what a pleasure it was being able to watch a fight broadcast from the US at such a sensible time, I was a little puzzled by the antics of Carl Froch.

Brought in as one of the studio experts, the Nottingham fighter was very elusive when it came to talking about a potential match-up, with the middleweight Gennady Golovkin.

Froch admitted that talks were on-going but promised that he would not be confirming, on the show, one way or another whether he would be taking the fight.

Discussing Golovkin, Froch was full of praise for the fighter who has knocked out his last twenty opponents and continues to march on, knocking out whoever is put in front of him.

Froch has often talked about getting up for a fight, something he reckons he couldn?t do for a bout against James DeGale, but if it is all about getting-up for a fight, do they come any bigger than being the first to beat the beast from the east, Golovkin?

Froch said he?d be deciding one way of the other next week, looking Froch in the eyes last night, I?m edging towards the answer being NO to a fight with Golovkin, how about you?
