What we suspected would happen, happened today.

After much speculation, Nottingham?s Carl Froch has vacated the IBF version of the super-middleweight world titles.

Sidelined with an elbow injury, Froch has stepped aside to prepare for a defence of his WBA super-middleweight title, in Las Vegas, in the summer.

Talking about finally vacating the title, Froch had this to say,

‘I know what it’s like to wait for a shot and I didn’t want to hold James up in fighting for a world title.

‘James is a great fighter and I hope he can go out and win that title. Who knows… we may even meet later in the year.’

As for his own future, Froch seemed a little confused, wanting something to happen soon but being frustrated by his injury, with 37 year-old Froch remarking,

‘Something needs to happen soon because if it doesn’t, I will be retiring’

Have we seen the last of Carl Froch?
