It is now looking as if James DeGale will get his IBF world title chance but it won?t be against Carl Froch.

The news from the Froch camp is that the Nottingham fighter is determined to end his career with a fight in Las Vegas, a bout that will see him take on Julio Cesar Chavez Junior.

Talking about ducking a fight with DeGale, the IBF mandatory challenger, Froch has remarked to the national media

‘DeGale doesn’t make any financial or business sense for me, my promoter or the TV broadcasters.?

‘His promoter is almost begging me to take the fight but he’s not a big enough name.?

‘He has not beaten anyone to justify being in the ring with me. He lost to George Groves. I flattened Groves and it would be even easier to flatten DeGale.’

And on the subject of the IBF belt, Froch added,

‘I’m happy to vacate the IBF belt.?

Which now leaves DeGale desperately waiting to see who his opponent will be for the vacant belt!

Continuing, with regard to his Las Vegas swansong, 37 year-old Froch added,

‘This is about me pursuing a dream of boxing in Las Vegas. I don’t want to retire without having fought in the fight capital of the world.

?The promoter of Chavez Jr has been in touch with my promoter and once that happens you are on the road to getting the fight made.’

Let?s hope Froch is right otherwise it?ll be a hugely disappointing way in which to end his career!
