Psychology plays an important part in the build-up to important fights.
Both fighters try to intimidate the others as they try mind-games to unsettle each other.
As the pre-fight press conference ahead of the gigantic tussle between Carl Froch and George Groves, the champion pointed out something relating to the trainers that will be in the corners.
With Groves having parted company with Adam Booth, before the first fight between the two, and hooked up with Paddy Fitzpatrick, and with Froch trained by Robert McCracken, Froch pointed out,
?My trainer has boxed at every level. He was the first guy to win silver in the World Cup, which is on a par with the World Championships and the Olympics.?
?I don?t know where Groves confidence comes from in terms of his corner because he talks about how he does it on his own and he just needs someone to carry the water.?
?It?s not a good sign, because his coach?s boxing record reads five fights, five losses, three by way of knockout. I don?t think that?s ideal to have in your corner.?
Will that remark give Groves cause for concern or will he simply dismiss it in his usual confident manner?
Froch Plays the Trainer Card!
