But will Golovkin be up for it?

With a Las Vegas swansong against Julio Cesar Chavez having gone up in smoke courtesy to Chavez Junior losing his last fight, many thought now was the time Carl Froch would choose to hang up his gloves.

Having vacated the IBF super-middleweight belt and been stripped of the WBA version of the belt, there didn?t seem to be much incentive for the 37-year-old Nottingham fighter to continue.

Talk of a bout with James DeGale, if the British boxer can take the vacant IBF crown in his bout with Andre Dirrell this Saturday was summarily dismissed with Froch claiming it was a fight he couldn?t get up for.

However, today (Thursday), the inference is there that Froch would be interested in fighting the machine that is Gennady Golovkin in one last huge fight.

Golovkin would be required to move up a division but could well see it as a viable move as there doesn?t appear to be any super-fights for the big-punching unbeaten fight at middleweight, or fights where top-class opposition are prepared to risk their safety.

It?s suggested that the fight would take place at Wembley Stadium and promoted by Eddie Hearn.

However, although Froch is recognised a huge force at super-middleweight, would Golovkin entertain a fight, at a new weight, if there was no title at stake?
