Is it just a suggestion that has gathered pace until, somehow, plans were starting to be put into place for it to happen?

What am I talking about you may ask!

Well it seems that the suggestion that 39-year-old Carl Froch was contemplating making a comeback, against none other than Gennady Golovkin, isn?t something that is going to happen.

The merest suggestion that Froch was ready to return to the ring had several pundits predicting the fight would happen in the summer of 2017 and could be another Wembley Stadium mega-fight, similar to when Froch clashed with George Groves at the very same arena.

But, before everybody starts getting carried away, Carl Froch has stepped forward to quash the rumours.

Talking to Sky Sports, Froch remarked,

?I am amazed they keep bringing my name up. I am nearly 40.?

Which would seem to indicate a return is not on the cards, although Froch did cheekily add,

?I?d beat Golovkin but it?s not happening.?

Is that the end of the matter?

Your views on the subject matter would be most appreciated.
