As he approaches the swansong of his career and possible retirement, Carl Froch has been awarded an MBE in the Queen?s Birthday Awards.

For Froch it is a wonderful achievement and the fighter has dedicated his award to his fans in Nottingham, remarking to the media,

‘I couldn’t have achieved what I have without my fans in Nottingham so I dedicate this to them. They were right behind me when I won my world title here and they have been such a huge force and inspiration in my career.

‘I’m so passionate about the sport of boxing and I’ve represented Nottingham all the way around the world . They now look and say ‘oh Nottingham is famous for Robin Hood, but Carl Froch is also there too’.

‘I might just casually drop into the Queen that I knocked out George Groves in front of 80,000 people at Wembley.

‘But all jokes aside, it’s brilliant for me and the city of Nottingham.’

Our congratulations go to Carl and his MBE reflects wonderfully on his career and also the noble art of Boxing.
