It appears that an announcement could soon be forthcoming in relation to a return to the ring for Carl Frampton.

The announcement is expected to confirm that Frampton will fight in Belfast in either July or August.

However, who he?ll be fighting remains a secret.

With talk of a third fight with Leo Santa Cruz ended after the Mexican was ordered to defend his WBA belt against Abner Mares and with Lee Selby being ordered to defend his IBF belt against Jonathan Victor Barros, Frampton is still seeking an opponent.

But, it seems that Frampton will not step into the ring with a fighter described as a ?mug? with Frampton remarking to the media,

‘It needs to be a big fight and that’s what it will be.

‘It doesn’t need to be a world title fight but I can’t fight a mug – it needs to be a credible opponent and a few names are in the hat.’

Here at Vital Boxing we?ll keep an ear to the ground and report back when details of either a date or an opponent have been confirmed.
