Earlier in the week we brought you the news that the re-match between the WBA Super World featherweight champion Carl Frampton and the man he took the belt from Leo Santa Cruz, had been agreed.

At the time no official venue or date had been announced.

We can now confirm that the fight will take place at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada on 28th January 2017.

Frampton will enter the fight with an unbeaten record that reads 23-0 with 14 wins coming by stoppage whilst Leo Santa Cruz will enter the ring with a record that reads 32-1-1 with 18 wins coming by way of knockout.

The only loss on Santa Cruz?s record is the defeat inflicted by Frampton, back in July, when the Northern Irish fighter took a 12-round majority decision in a fight at the Brooklyn Centre in Brooklyn, New York.

The fight that night was scored 114-114, 116-112 and 117-111, a verdict some of the American pundits didn?t agree with.

The first fight was good, the second has the potential to be great.
