Speculation had suggested that the former world champion, Carl Frampton, was set for another bout in April 2018.

That same speculation also insisted that Frampton?s opponent might also be a former world champion, someone who has held belts at four different weights, Nonito Donaire.

Yesterday (Thursday), that speculation became reality as it was confirmed that Frampton will take on Donaire, in Belfast, on 7 April, with the venue most probably being the SSE Arena.

Although some might suggest 35-year-old Donaire is past his best the Filipino who has held seven world titles throughout a seventeen-year career, will provide Frampton with a tough test.

If Frampton comes through this test it is expected that his next fight will be for a world-title against the winner of the Lee Selby v Josh Warrington world-title domestic tear-up.

For Frampton, it will be his second fight since he lost his WBA world title to Leo Santa Cruz, back in January in a fight in Las Vegas.
