After linking up with Al Haymon, it hasn?t taken long for it to be announced that Carl Frampton?s next fight will be in the good old US.
Frampton will be flying across the Atlantic to defend his IBF super-bantamweight title in the Lone Star state of Texas.
On 19th July his entourage will be ringside as he takes on a Mexican opponent called Alejandro Gonzalez Junior.
Defending his title outside the United Kingdom for the first time, Frampton has remarked,
‘I want to become a star in the USA and this is my first step on that journey.
‘Alejandro Gonzalez Jr is a dangerous Mexican challenger but he has never fought anyone like me and on the 18th of July he is in for a big, big shock.’
Let?s hope Frampton doesn?t follow in the footsteps of his mentor, Barry McGuigan, who ventured stateside to defend his world title and came unstuck in the heat against Stevie Cruz.
