In the early hours of Sunday morning, UK time, Carl Frampton will be defending the WBA featherweight belt he won off of Leo Santa Cruz, in a thrilling encounter in New York, back in July.
The re-match between two of the best boxers on the planet will, this time, be in Las Vegas, at the MGM Grand.
In the original fight, which Frampton won on points, the Irish boxer was cheered on by thousands of his fans, some based in New York and others flying across the pond.
For the re-match it looks as if up to 5,000 of Frampton?s fans will be inside the MGM Grand hoping their man can emerge victorious again.
Ahead of the fight, Frampton has given an indication of how fervent and loyal his fans are, recalling the exploits of one, or as Frampton puts it,
‘I know this guy Keith Dallas – he sold his car and bought his wife another car, which wasn’t as good, to raise the funds for this trip.
‘This is the stuff they’re doing – there’s a guy coming from Australia to watch the fight as well. It’s not easy to get to Las Vegas, it’s expensive and it makes me more appreciative of the effort people are putting in to get out here.’
The original fight saw Frampton hire out a bar in downtown Manhattan enabling his supporters to celebrate and meet-and-greet the man himself, I wonder if something similar is arranged, in Las Vegas, this time, if so does anyone know where it is?
