After beating Scott Quigg, in Manchester recently, it appears that the IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion, Carl Frampton, is set to move up a weight.

Reports are emerging that suggest that Frampton is set to move up to featherweight to take on the current WBA world featherweight title holder Leo Santa Cruz.

The fight is scheduled for this summer, something confirmed by Showtime.

If so, it would mean that Frampton will have to relinquish the WBA super-bantamweight belt having been ordered to defend it against Guillermo Rodriguez by 27th July.

That doesn?t come as to much of a surprise to those who have been listening to the talk coming from the Frampton camp with his manager, Barry McGuigan, suggesting that a fight with Santa Cruz was the obvious one to make.

Here at Vital Boxing we?ll sit tight and wait for details relating to a date and venue.

But it should, we feel, be a cracker.
