I?d imagine that Carl Frampton has one hell of a smile on his face at the moment.

News has broken that ?The Jackal? has been voted the 2016 Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year.

With the sport populated by so many governing bodies and with there being so many world champions, to be selected as the best fighter of 2016 is, for Carl, a wonderful achievement.
2016 was a fantastic year for the fighter from Belfast, he travelled to England to take on Bury?s Scott Quigg in a unification fight and won, before travelling to the US, after moving up a weight, to become the first fighter to beat Leo Santa Cruz.

Talking about the wonderful accolade, Frampton, who has a record that reads 23-0 with 14 wins coming by way of knockout, has remarked,

?Obviously it?s a huge honour.

?Toward the end of the year I picked up fighter of the year on some websites but THE RING Magazine, that?s the one. I?m very, very proud of that.?

And so you should be Carl.

Here?s hoping that 2017 is another great year, starting with the re-match with Leo Santa Cruz, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas
