After wrestling the IBF title from Kiko Martinez, on a wonderful night in Belfast, it was revealed that Carl Frampton had suffered a hand injury.
The injury has, subsequently, resulted in Frampton having to take an extended rest. This has consequently resulted in the IBF extending the date by which Frampton has to make a mandatory defence of his title, against the Californian Chris Avalos.
In a twist that only boxing seems to provide, Avalos is now co-promoted by Eddie Hearn who has revealed the 90 day extension given to Frampton could jeopardize an early meeting with Scott Quigg with Hearn revealing why he got involved with Avalos, remarking,
?My decision to get involved with Avalos was two fold. One, I feel I can maximize his earning potential through the opportunities and my experience within this market and two it gives me an opportunity to make the Quigg vs Frampton fight next while compensating Avalos accordingly.?
So now we understand, the intention was to satisfy our craving to see Frampton and Quigg collide in the ring, smart move Eddie!
Frampton Out Injured Until February!
