On February 28th Carl Frampton returns to the ring for the first time since winning the IBF version of the super-bantamweight crown.

Frampton is making a mandatory defence against Chris Avalos, in Belfast, in a fight that could be a cracker.

The fight is, so we?re informed, to be broadcast live by ITV, as the station looks to get a foothold back into live boxing.

Talking about getting a one-off deal to showcase Frampton on ITV, his manager Barry McGuigan has remarked,

?ITV are getting a wonderful deal because these are more than just shows they are big events.

?Belfast is just fizzing in the weeks leading up to a Frampton fight.?

But there is still talk of a unification match, if Frampton gets past Avalos, to see the Belfast man in the ring with the Bury fighter, Scott Quigg, prompting Frampton to remark,

?I hope the Quigg fight happens but I don?t need him.

?Being on terrestrial TV, I now have the platform and we?re in the driving seat.

?It would be a great shame if it didn?t happen but we?re focused on Chris Avalos at the minute.?

With Quigg also out recovering from an injury, this fight could be put on the back-burner for a while!
