When Carl Frampton was rising through the professional ranks, Barry McGuigan positively enthused about the talents of the fighter he was nurturing.
McGuigan preached to the world that his charge would one-day become a world champions and the Clones Cyclone was proven correct.
Looking in from the outside, their relationship was almost one of father and son, a rock-solid bond.
Unfortunately, it all went wrong, and the two parties suffered what is fast turning into a very acrimonious split.
The latest instalment being that Frampton is taking McGuigan to court in an ongoing dispute relating to money made during the fights he was managed by Cyclone Promotions (UK) Ltd.
Frampton, as the bitter dispute continues, has lodged a High Court writ against McGuigan, his wife Sandra and Cyclone Promotions.
It appears that Frampton has been forced to issue the writ as a counter-claim against proceedings brought against him by Cyclone Promotions.
As the row rumbles on, the case against Frampton is expected to be heard in London, whilst Frampton?s counter-claim will be heard in Northern Ireland.
It is a very sad ending to what, when the journey to world title glory, was something akin to a fairy tale, with it being more like a horror story now.
