On 21 April, at the SSE Arena, in Belfast, Carl Frampton makes his ring return.
The Northern Irish fighter, having split with the McGuigan camp, will be looking to make an instant impact and become hot news again.
His opponent in Belfast is the hugely respected, but ageing, Filipino fighter Nonito Donaire.
However, news has broken that the duo, on the night, will be fighting for the WBO interim featherweight title.
The winner of this fight will take on Oscar Valdez for the WBO belt with Frampton commenting about the news,
‘A huge night of boxing just got even bigger.
‘It’s great news and it adds a whole lot more razzmatazz to the event.
‘I was sure that the winner of this bout was going to go on to fight for a world title in their next contest and having an interim world title on the line all but confirms that.?
It was being suggested that the winner of this fight would be taking on the winner of the forthcoming bout between Selby and Warrington, but the news that this fight is now for the WBO interim title, makes it a whole, new spectacular ball-game.
