After both Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton held on to their respective super-bantamweight world titles last weekend talk is, once again, of the pair meeting in the ring.
Although previous negotiations collapsed in an acrimonious manner there is fresh hope that the management teams behind the respective fighters can come to an agreement.
Yesterday, words from within the Frampton camp, as reported by the BBC, saw Frampton remark about the fight all boxing supporters would like to see,
‘The message is bring it on – I hope we can get an agreement.
I’m happy to fight him in his own backyard but he just needs to remember who is the boss when it comes to negotiations.’
But once again that under-current relating to is the headliner seems to be surfacing, something that we believe derailed the process last time out.
But Eddie Hearn, representing the other camp, has pitched in with,
‘We will go back with a revised offer and try again. It’s the biggest fight for them.?
I think, personally, it is the biggest fight out there for both of them.
But, thankfully, talk of Frampton moving up to featherweight, thereby threatening any potential match-up, appears to have been put on hold with Frampton confirming via the same source,
‘I’m a career super-bantamweight – I just misjudged things, just got things wrong a little bit.
‘I can make 8st 10lbs again if I have to. It’s never comfortable, it’s never easy and it’s a hard slog to do it.’
Let?s just pray talks are more than productive this time and the pair ca meet to decide who is the better boxer, it?d be quite a night that?s for sure.
