Tonight, in Manchester, at the Velodrome, Terry Flanagan will hope that he can add his name to the growing list of current British world title holders.
Flanagan will be taking on Jose Zapeda tonight for the WBO lightweight crown, a hugely difficult task considering that Zapeda tends to knockout his opponents with alarming regularity.
However, Flanagan will be boosted by the home crowd and accepts that he has to be at his best to beat the unbeaten American with Flanagan remarking to the press, ahead of the bout tonight,
?If I fight to my game plan, I know I can do it.
?It?s been a long hard road and I don?t intend to waste it now.?
If Flanagan is to win then he?ll have to box the perfect fight, he?ll not be able to stand and trade as Zapeda will, in our opinion, come out on top.
But the big question is whether Flanagan, who has ambitions of becoming Manchester?s first World Champion since Ricky Hatton, has the stamina to out-box the champion, even more so if the champion lands one of those big punches.
Here at Vital Boxing we?re perhaps going against the bookmakers here, but we reckon the crowd will carry Flanagan through on a wave of emotion and the challenger will get the narrowest of points victories.
Let?s hope we?re right shall we.
Flanagan’s Big Night Tonight!
