After becoming the first British lightweight champion, by taking the WBO crown, Manchester?s Terry Flanagan will be making his first defence of the crown on October 10th.
No opponent has yet been named but Flanagan will be looking to extend his 28-0 professional record whilst giving his supporters another thrilling spectacle.
Quoted in The Sun today, Flanagan has remarked about the forthcoming defence,
?Manchester is the best city in the world and to be crowned world champion in front of my home-town fans was the best feeling ever.?
?Manchester is the UK?s #1 sporting city with the best footballers, cricketers, rugby players and, of course, boxers.
?I made history against Zepeda by becoming the first British lightweight world champion and it means a lot to me.
?The support in Manchester was unbelievable that night and I have no doubts that October 10 will be equally special.
?I?m going to put on a thrilling show for my fans and it will be a night to remember.?
If it is anything like when Flanagan took the crown, it?ll be a night to remember.
