With Tyson Fury going through troubled times and having relinquished his belts, suddenly the heavyweight division is a hive of activity.

Apart from in the area governed by the WBC where their champion, Deontay Wilder, is side-lined with a hand and arm injury.

However, all credit must go to the WBC for preventing their belt to go stagnant.

With Wilder recovering from his injuries, the WBC have sanctioned what?s called an interim heavyweight title fight that will take place in Ekaterinburg, Russia,

The fight will see the former WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin matched against the former WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Siverne.

The two fighters have respectable records with Povetkin?s record reading 30-1 with 22 wins coming by knockout and Stiverne?s reading 25-2-1 with 21 coming by knockout.

The fight will take place on December 17th and the winner will be guaranteed a shot at the WBC champion, Deontay Wilder, once he?s recovered from injury.
