Perhaps the most emphatic ending to a fight on the under-card, at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, came from the fists of Rocky Fielding.
Fielding, tipped by many to go all the way in this sport of ours, was matched against Brian Vera.
Fielding, now with a record that reads 21-0 with 12 coming by the big knockout, stopped Vera in two rounds with some clinical big hitting, which saw the fight stopped by the referee, Ian John Lewis, after one minute and thirty nine seconds of the round.
Vera, now on a run of four straight defeats, was knocked down in both rounds before the action was halted.
Many might point out that Vera normally campaigns as a middleweight whilst Fielding is a fully-fledged super-middleweight, but Fielding was in one of those moods whereby nothing was going to stop him.
Ranked #7 by the IBF, is there a chance that Fielding could be matched against Callum Smith in a huge domestic final-eliminator for a world title or will they, as I suspect, be kept apart?
