When it was announced that Chris Eubank Junior had accepted the challenge from Nick Blackwell for Blackwell?s British title, several pundits were a little confused.
After all, Eubank Junior had recovered from the split decision loss to Billy Joe Saunders and was, once again, on the verge of a world title fight.
But it seems Eubank Junior has a plan.
After his British title fight against Blackwell, Eubank Junior will be looking to fight Saunders for a second time and it appears his management will make sure the purse is large enough to ensure the bout goes ahead, with Eubank quoted in the morning press as having remarked,
?This fight is against a generic opponent in Blackwell but I have always wanted to win the British title.
?After that, we move on to world honours.
?Saunders is the type where, if the money is right, he will fight.
?The money will be more than right for him when he gets into the ring with me again. It?s a huge fight ? a football stadium filler.
?We have just got to get the contracts moving now ? all I can do is wait.?
Let?s hoping Blackwell does nothing to derail those plans as a re-match would be a fight to behold.
