Although Chris Eubank Junior has aspirations of winning a world title, it seems that the British title is his first target in 2016.
Now whilst many may perceive, with a fight against Daniel Jacobs in the pipe-line, a British title fight against Nick Blackwell would be a backward step, but Team Eubank don?t view it that way.
In fact, Chris Eubank Senior sees it as a must-go route remarking to the media,
?The British championship is all-important to Team Eubank. Who knew that Hennessy would outbid Matchroom?
?This British championship means a lot to Jnr. Is it a backward step? No. This is the only step. The fight with Jacobs can be at a later point.
?For February or March, Team Eubank only ever wanted the British.
?Once you get the world title, there is no going back. I never had the British, I went straight for the world title ? chasing Nigel Benn.
?Jnr will get far loss for the British title fight, but this is not about money. This is about legacy, this is patriotism and this is Britain.?
My view is that Team Eubank are to be admired, the British title is something that should be revered and every boxer making their way up the ladder should make the effort to acquire one of those marvellous golden belts.
