After dropping out of the world middleweight scene to successfully win the British title and then make one successful defence of it, Chris Eubank Jnr has, surprisingly, relinquished the belt he spoke so lovingly about.

Eubank Jnr was set to make a second defence of the belt against Tommy Langford in Cardiff on October 22nd, but an elbow injury has seen that fight called off and the subsequent relinquishing of the title.

Naturally, Team Eubank put their own slant on the decision with a statement issued that reads,

?The unforeseeable future puts us in a position where we have to allow the remaining contenders the ability to earn a living.

?It is now with relief, as it has become clear over these past few months, how much danger the health and lives of these contenders are in.

?Therefore the relinquishing of the British Championship due to injury is perhaps a blessing in disguise.?

It remains to be seen where Eubank Jnr?s career goes next.

Eubank challenged Golovkin straight after his win at the O2, writing on Twitter: “If you want a fight with a real British Middleweight…come get some. My corner don’t own towels.”
