Chris Eubank Jnr made his first return to the ring, last night, since taking the British middleweight title off of Nick Blackwell.
That contest, sadly, saw Blackwell put into an induced coma and having to retire from the sport.
Last night, making the first defence of the British middle-weight crown, Eubank Jnr was matched against the unbeaten Tom Doran.
Ahead of the bout Doran had spoken about maintaining his unbeaten run and pulling off a surprise by beating Eubank Jnr.
However, that was never going to be the case.
From the moment Eubank Jnr appeared for his ring walk, draped in the Union flag, the Brighton fighter exuded confidence and had that aura about him that very few others have.
Eubank Jnr did what he wanted in the ring, upping the pressure when he wanted, taunting Doran when he wanted and dropping the Welshman to the canvas three times before the fight was inevitably stopped.
After the fight Eubank Jnr was in no doubt as to whom he wants to face next, the legend that is Gennady Golovkin with Eubank Jnr remarking,
‘It’s all about making statements.
‘I feel I’m at world level now and can be challenging for world titles.
‘Gennady Golovkin – everybody’s scared of you but I’m coming for you and I’m coming for your belts.’
Golovkin is a fearsome operator, a fighter who is unbeaten in 35 fights and who has knocked out 32 of his opponents, is Eubank Jnr ready for that fight?
Your views would be most appreciated.
