Topping the bill at the Barclaycard Arena, in Birmingham, was a welterweight fight between Sam Eggington and Frankie Gavin.
The clash was billed as being for Bragging Rights in the city of Birmingham.
British Boxing Board of Control directives had decreed that due to weigh-in issues, only Sam Eggington was able to box for the WBC International welterweight title that was on offer.
The fight proved to be a classic and could be a contender for the British Fight of the Year for 2016.
The fight was won by Eggington in the 8th round after Gavin was unable to withstand an onslaught that had started with a body-punch and culminated in a blistering barrage of punches that saw the referee, Iain John-Lewis, step in to stop the fight.
Eggington was impressive throughout the fight, unloading barrages of punches that saw him edge ahead on points. Gavin used his silky boxing skills to fight back but Eggington was just too strong for the former world amateur champion.
The win took Eggington?s record to 19-3 with 11 wins coming by way of knockout whilst Gavin saw his record slip to 23-3 with 14 wins coming by stoppage.
After the fight Gavin dismissed any talk of retirement and spoke about a re-match, but Eggington, despite knowing how to deal with Gavin now, will be looking towards bigger and better things after this impressive display.
