On the under-card of the huge promotion at the O2 Arena, where Gennady Golovkin puts the majority of his world middleweight title belts on the line, there is a very intriguing fight on the under-card.
The fight is for the IBF flyweight title and features Charlie Edwards taking on John Riel Casimero.
What makes it intriguing is that Casimero had had more world title fights than Edwards has had fights.
Edwards is still what many would regard as a novice in the professional game having had just 8 fights compared to the 10 world title fights Casimero has been involved in.
But Edwards isn?t fazed by his more illustrious opponent and talking to the media has remarked,
‘It’s come sooner than I expected but I am going to grab this opportunity with both hands.
‘I won the European Schoolboys when I was 14 and I signed with GB Boxing when I was 15, one of the youngest they’ve had.
‘I’ve been all over the world boxing in different countries, against all sorts of styles, and won lots of medals.
‘I’ve done my apprenticeship and that’s why I am confident. This isn’t too soon for me because of my amateur pedigree.
‘The way I box, I’ll be shocked if he can keep up with my movement. I’m a classy boxer. It’s not going to be a close decision, it will be a wide win.’
A bold prediction there, but can Edwards live up to his promise, we?ll see on Saturday night won?t we!
