In Edinburgh last night, with Josh Taylor topping the bill at the Hydro Arena, there was an interesting Commonwealth super-lightweight fight on the under-card.
The fight saw Jason Easton matched against Glenn Foot.
In what was an engaging contest, it was Foot that won the title, stopping Easton in the eleventh round.
However, Easton, as a result of the fight, was taken to hospital after the bout, having been given oxygen at ringside.
Speaking to the media, after the promotion had finished, Easton?s manager, Barry McGuigan, was confident that his charge would be released from hospital, with a clean bill of health, after a couple of days rest.
Following in the footsteps of the tragic death of Scott Westgarth, the last thing our beloved sport needs is another fatality.
Boxing is a brutal sport and there are always inherent dangers, but those who participate know these dangers.
Our thoughts are with Jason Easton and we hope he makes a speedy recovery.
