Andre Dirrell is man that has his future all mapped out.

The American, set to take on James DeGale for the vacant IBF super-middleweight crown, at a venue in the US still to be confirmed, reckons that after he?s blown the British fighter away he?s going to square up against Carl Froch.

Now on paper that seems to be a plausible plan until you consider two things.

Firstly, James DeGale is an ambitious fighter, his only loss in his professional career, so far, is a contentious defeat at the hands of a fellow world title challenger, George Groves. DeGale has already hinted he doesn?t mind where he fights Dirrell, citing a ring is a ring.

Secondly, if (and I believe he won?t) he does beat DeGale talk of meeting Froch, a fighter he lost to in 2009, could be wishful thinking. Having given up the IBF crown, to seek a Las Vegas swansong, Froch?s status as a fighter remains unclear. Currently injured, Froch may well, if he doesn?t get the fight he craves, decide that retirement might be an option.

However, the best way for Dirrell?s plans to march on to be derailed rest with James DeGale, a fighter who believes he is destined to be a world champion, do your stuff James.
