When Anthony Crolla was forced, through injuries sustained whilst dealing with an attempted burglary, to withdraw from his WBA world lightweight title bout against Richar Abril, Derry Matthews was very willing to step into the breach.
The bout between Matthews on Abril was destined for 6th March in Liverpool but that too was suddenly postponed for reasons, at the time, that were very unclear.
However, it turns out that Abril withdrew from the bout through illness, stating dengue fever as the cause!
But, it appears Matthews will still get his world title opportunity with the fight now re-scheduled for Saturday 18th April.
Would it be too much to hope it actually happens and Matthews gets his chance?
