The consensus of public opinion is that those who follow the art of the sport governed by the Queensbury Rules, wanted to see Carl Frampton fight Scott Quigg in his next fight.

You?d have thought everybody in the UK was of the same opinion, but it doesn?t seem that way.

Whilst there have been mutterings that Eddie Hearn had hoped to put on a mega-fight between Frampton and Quigg, possibly in December, it now seems that Hearn is abiding by the rules and has joined forces with the IBF mandatory challenger Chris Avalos to ensure Frampton makes that mandatory offence.

Therefore any thoughts of Avalos being paid to step aside to allow Frampton and Quigg to clash are way of the mark with Hearn attributed as having remarked,

?Carl Frampton did a great job on Saturday night and now the IBF have made it clear that he must fight Chris Avalos and they won?t move on that. We had it with Kell Brook and Shaw Porter. Porter was given an exemption so he could fight Paulie Mallignagi and then the IBF ordered him to face Kell or be stripped and it is the same with Frampton. So, we?ll see how negotiations go and if we have to go to purse bids then we?ll bid strongly for the fight.?

Perhaps it?s just delaying the inevitable!
