If supporters of James DeGale were hoping for some positive news with regards to further news in relation to the proposed 25th April fight with Andre Dirrell, they were to be disappointed with the news that was confirmed today.
Many were hoping that DeGale would get the chance to fight for the title vacated by Carl Froch at a venue in the UK, but that might not be the case.
Despite having been on the wrong end of a bad decision when he boxed Car Froch, in the UK, in the Super Six tournament, Dirrell had suggested he had no problems making a return to the UK.
But that hasn?t been vindicated by the news that the fight has gone to purse-bids with the management teams, for both fighters, being unable to agree in their negotiations.
Talking about the failure to agree terms, Dan Rafael of ESPN.com had this to say,
?On Thursday the IBF said Hearn wrote to the organization saying he was no longer willing to negotiate the fight and asking for an immediate purse bid.?
It now remains to see who offers the biggest pot when the purse bids are opened on 10th March.
Will Eddie Hearn and Matchroom outbid all others to force Dirrell to come across the pond to face the #1 IBF fighter at super-middleweight?
