James DeGale is certainly looking to make a name for himself in the super-middleweight division.

The London fighter, already the holder of the IBF super-middleweight title, has agreed to take on the WBC title holder Badou Jack in a unification contest.

The fight will take place in Las Vegas on 14th January 2017.

After the fight was announced DeGale took to the social network site, Instagram, remarking,

‘I told you it was coming!’

DeGale has held the IBF version of the belt since he beat the American fighter Andre Dirrell back in May 2015 and his most recent fight saw him retain the title against the Mexican fighter Rogelio Medina.

Jack won his version of the title, the WBC version by beating the other fighting Dirrell brother, Anthony back in 2015. Since winning the belt, Jack has made two successful defences, including one against George Groves where the decision was deemed questionable.

Groves remains a figure common to both fighters with the Hammersmith fighter being the only blemish on DeGale?s twenty-four fight professional career.

If DeGale unifies the IBF and WBC versions of the super-middleweight title, could he look towards Groves to seek revenge for his only loss?
