Any chances of James DeGale stepping back into a ring soon have diminished.
DeGale has had an operation on a shoulder injury that will see him side-lined for the foreseeable future.
Now 31-years-of-age, DeGale, speaking about his injury, is quoted as having remarked,
‘My arm will be in a sling for a few days and I’ll be given exercises to do on my own.
‘A few weeks later, I’ll start my rehab with my physio and within eight to 10 weeks I should be able to spar. I will definitely be able to fight before the end of the year.’
After the controversial decision in the fight against Badou Jack, it?ll be interesting to see who will be DeGale?s next opponent and whether, after fighting away from the UK for his last few fights, he?ll be returning to entertain his legions of British fans.
But more importantly, could that opponent be the new WBA super-middleweight champion, George Groves?
