The champ is looking to the future!
With the dust still settling on James DeGale?s wonderful triumph on US soil against Andre Dirrell, the new IBF super-middleweight champion of the world will be returning to the UK with a huge smile on his face.
However, now that he is the champion of the world it?ll soon be time to focus on who his next opponent is.
Talking after the historic victory over Andre Dirrell, DeGale was in buoyant mood remarking about future fights,
?Who would I like to fight next? Anyone Dirrell was one hell of a fighter and I hope people appreciate that.
?If Froch thinks he is that good why doesn?t he fight me? I would be the perfect fight for him to come back. If I was Froch, I?d stay well away from me.
?I?m looking at Froch and he had his chance, he gave up his belt for me to fight for it. I want the big-fights ? the bigger, the better.
?Mikkel Kessler, George Groves, Golovkin. They can come to me.?
Good stuff from DeGale there, but what about a venue?
It seems DeGale fancies a fight under the Wembley arch, further adding,
?I?d love to fight at Wembley again and this time headline the show instead of being chief support, that would be a dream. I?m looking forward to my homecoming fight. I want a big stadium in London.?
DeGale?s promoter, Eddie Hearn seems to be chasing a fight against Kessler, my thoughts are that, if that were to be the case, DeGale might have trouble filling a huge arena against someone who many thought had slipped into retirement.
Now if they could lure Golovkin to Wembley, that might be a different matter!
