Whilst much of the focus, this Saturday night, will be on the Froch v Groves re-match, the Wembley promotion provides somebody who it might be suggested has seen his career stall recently, get back into the spotlight.
James DeGale, who has switched camps from the Hennessey stable to join the more prominent Matchroom stable, takes on the American Brandon Gonzales in a fight that has been deemed to provide the mandatory challenger for the IBF middleweight belt.
DeGale, who won a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics, is now 28 years of age and although he has only a single loss on his record, to George Groves, should be much further advanced in his career.
Talking about being so close to fighting for a world title though, DeGale has remarked ahead of the fight on Saturday night,
?I am within touching distance of achieving my dream of fighting for the world title. Nothing Gonzales can do will stop me, although I have the utmost respect.?
Let?s hope DeGale is correct, otherwise that world title fight will be further away than ever!
DeGale on the Verge!
