With Carl Froch now side-lined with an elbow injury, the chances of James DeGale getting his mandatory attempt at the IBF title seem to be very slim.

However, DeGale could be set for the glamour fight he craces.

The grapevine, for a few days now, has been intimating that DeGale?s next fight could see him step into the ring with an old foe of Froch?s, one Mikkel Kessler.

Negotiations are, so it is being reported, underway for the two to meet on April 25th with the O2 Arena being linked as a possible venue to stage the big fight.

But whether the fight will carry IBF world title status remains to be seen, whilst Kessler is an admirable opponent if Froch is stripped of the belt, the IBF would usually match the top two rated fighters for the vacated title.

However, this could change, watch this space!
