The boxing career of Anthony Crolla is finally back on track.

The lightweight, having suffered appalling injuries inflicted by burglars he tried to apprehend, injuries which included a fractured skull and a broken ankle, is set to return to the ring on the under-card of the Scott Quigg v Kiko Martinez promotion.

But the best news for Crolla and all his supporters is that the Manchester fighter will be fighting for the WBA world lightweight title against the Colombian fighter Darleys Perez.

Talking about his ring return, Crolla has remarked to the media,

‘Lying in my hospital bed after the attack, I didn’t know what the future held – I was just lucky to be alive.

‘But I have worked so hard and had so much support that I have to win that world title.

‘Perez is a great fighter and I know I am going to have to be at my very best to beat him, but with everything that has happened, it feels like I am destined to win the belt.’

Crolla will enter the fight with a record that reads 29 wins from 35 fights whilst his opponent, Darleys Perez, who is 28 years of age, has won 32 of his 33 fights.

Like Crolla has remarked, it will be a tough task but Crolla has shown, in making a ring return after such appalling injuries, he?s not short when it comes to determination and sheer guts.
