When Anthony Joshua dismantled Kevin Johnson to make it 13 wins and 13 stoppages, Eddie Hearn suggested that when Joshua returns to London, in September, it will signify a step-up in quality of his opponents.
The rumours doing the rounds are that Joshua could, in September, be mixing it with a former world title contender, one Mariusz Wach.
Wach has a more than decent record with statistics that read 30-1 with 16 of those wins coming by way of knockout.
The suggestion being that an agreement has been done between both promoters but that the actual contract has yet to take place.
Joshua is set to fight on a show in Manchester, on July 17th, but if a deal is done that sees Joshua fight Wach, then don?t expect the fight planned for July to be too competitive.
Matching Joshua with Wach does represent a risk, Wach has a decent punch and it could prove to everyone, once and for all, whether Joshua is, as many of us suspect, the real deal.
Bring it on is what I say.
Could Wach be Joshua?s September Opponent?
