On Saturday night, at the SSE Arena, in Belfast, Jamie Conlan failed in his attempt to win the IBF super-flyweight title.
Matched against the Filipino Jerwin Ancajas, Conlan was stopped in the sixth round.
Although Conlan entered the fight unbeaten in 19 fights, the champion was just too strong for him.
Conlan was on the canvas on several occasions, the first visit came in the first round when he didn?t appear to be caught by a punch.
Matters got worse for Conlan in round two when he picked up a bad cut over his eye.
Further visits to the canvas came in the third and fourth rounds with Conlan unable to cope with the ferocious body shots Ancajas was throwing.
The fifth-round saw Ancajas docked a point for a couple of low blows but the next round was to be the last with Conlan being stopped with the referee stepping in to save the Belfast boxer from further punishment.
A very disappointing night for Conlan but Ancajas showed he is a worthy champion.
