Over in the US last night, in Chicago, the Belfast fighter Michael Conlan was having his second professional fight.

After making his professional debut at the legendary venue that is the Madison Square Garden, Conlan knew that if he could register a second win, he would be fighting on the under-card of the Manny Pacquio v Jeff horn fight in July.

Matched against the Mexican fighter, Alfredo Chanez, Conlan kept his professional career on track courtesy of a third-round stoppage of his opponent.

Displaying his full array of skills, Conlan was by far the better fighter and he can now look to a third professional fight of his career on a star-studded promotion topped by the legend that is Manny Pacquiao.

There is also the suggestion that Conlan will return to his native Belfast to fight in December.

Conlan is a fighter who is going places, mark my words.
