Sometimes, despite all the preparation work, mother nature steps in and has her say.

The unbeaten super-flyweight, Jamie Conlan, was scheduled to be fighting for the vacant WBC International Silver Super-flyweight title next weekend at the Waterfront Hall, in Belfast.

Conlan was set to take on the 27-year-old Nicaraguan Yader Cardoza, a fighter that has a record that reads 22 wins from 33 fights.

However, a heavy head cold picked up by Conlan, has forced the fight to be postponed and rescheduled for 10th March at the same venue.

Talking about his disappointment, 30-year-old Conlan had this to say,

‘It’s frustrating as I’ve been working hard and preparing for this fight for the past two months.

‘But this is boxing and these things happen unfortunately.

‘I contracted a head cold on my return to Belfast and as a result I’ve missed some vital training sessions.

‘Yader is a former world title challenger and I can’t take any chances. I want to put in a real performance for all of my fans.’

‘This is dangerous sport and I can’t afford to come in at anything less than 100%. It is just one of those things but I’ll be fully fit and prepared to put on a show on 10 March.’

Better to be safe than sorry Jamie, we?ll look forward to 10th March and here at Vital Boxing we wish you well.
