A while back we commented on how Nathan Cleverly was set to face the Polish fighter Andrzej Fonfara.

Cleverly, back at light-heavyweight after an unconvincing dalliance at cruiserweight, has, so we thought, selected a strange route towards another world title tilt.

Many suspected that Cleverly would home in on a fight against Juergen Brahmer, the current WBA champion, however Fonfara it is and a date has now been announced for the bout.

Cleverly will fight the Polish boxer in Chicago on October 16th with Cleverly commenting about the bout to BBC Radio Wales,

‘This is a another big opportunity for me. I’ve had two good performances in the States but this one is on a big platform.

‘It’s probably the biggest fight of my life, but I’m confident. Preparations have gone well and it’s just a matter now of performing.

‘There’s no reason for me not to perform – I’m ready, I’m hungry, I’m firing and ready to showcase against Andrzej Fonfara.’

It?s a huge fight for Cleverly and he?ll need to be in the form of his life to pull this one off we feel.
