There?s no doubting that at the Eddie Hearn promotion, in Manchester, a promotion headed up by Anthony Joshua defending his IBF heavyweight title against Eric Molina, the fight of the night was another heavyweight bout, the one that saw Dillian Whyte take on Dereck Chisora.
After twelve titanic rounds, it was Whyte that was given a controversial split decision with many of those who watched the fight believing that Chisora had edged it.
Clamour for a re-match continues and Chisora, who has a record that reads 26-7 with 18 wins coming via knockout, wants to set the record straight the second time around.
Promoted by the Sauerland team, Nisse Sauerland, talking to Sky Sports, has commented,
?May has been talked about and I know that Dereck will definitely be ready for that date.
?There is enough demand to make the fight happen. We definitely want the fight.?
But there is the suggestion that Whyte, with the first encounter being described as a world title eliminator, is hanging on in there for a fight with the reigning WBC champion, Deontay Wilder.
The plan is then for the winner of the Wilder v Whyte fight to take on Anthony Joshua towards the end of the year, in a unification bout.
However, those pipe-dreams may fall apart with Wilder probably not keen on risking losing the unification fight with Joshua, if Whyte should get lucky with one of his huge punches.
Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the much-talked about re-match will happen.
