It is something that appears to be happening more and more, late opponent changes for top of the bill fights.

The latest promotion to suffer this fate is Frank Warren?s hugely anticipated promotion at the Copper Box Arena on 15th February.

Topping the bill that night is Dereck Chisora who was scheduled to defend his EBU heavyweight title against Andriy Rudenko.

However Rudenko, a Ukrainian, has had to withdraw from the bout after he, rather unfortunately, ruptured his Achilles in training.

Due to this fact, Frank Warren is now looking around for a new opponent to face Chisora with Warren remarking about the situation,

‘We’re disappointed to hear Rudenko has suffered this serious injury and has to withdraw.’

‘It’s very unfortunate but these things happen and we have to move on and secure Chisora a new challenger.?

‘We have some names that we are working on and will look to announce the name very shortly.’

Much has been made, this week, of a supposed second fight between Chisora and the unbeaten Tyson Fury, could it happen sooner than we think?
