Yesterday, we speculated on how the Polish fighter, Andrzej Fonfara, might just have put the kybosh on a swansong in Las Vegas for Carl Froch.

Fonfara, as we reported yesterday, not only beat the highly rated Julio Cesar Chavez Junior but absolutely flattened him.

Chavez bit the dust in round nine and was so disorientated he remained on his stool come the start of the tenth and retired.

But it seems Fonfara, who could have opened up all sorts of doors with this big win, knew he had the measure of Chavez the first time he tasted the favourites leather with the Polish fighter remarking,

?When he hit me the first time, I knew I was going to win.

?He was cut, had been getting beat up and just got knocked down, so he knew what would happen if he came out.?

I guess he did, but returning to the prospect of Eddie Hearn pursuing a fight for Froch against Chavez, it seems it now becomes a fight the public wouldn?t buy into and tweets doing the rounds yesterday indicated that all negotiations were now off.
